Using the tools recommended in this directory can help you improve your digital security and safety. Having good understanding of how these tools work and knowing how to use them properly are equally important in limiting your digital security risks and mitigating your digital safety threats.

The digital security guides section contains a list of resources including step-by-step instructions, user manuals, trainer’s handbooks, support toolkits, and other similar materials. These guides cover a wide range of digital security and safety topics including privacy, surveillance, censorship, encryption, backup, and more.

In the digital security network section of this directory, we list organisations that support human rights defenders by providing digital security training and crisis response. We also include in this section cooperative groups and independent businesses that provide free or subsidised hosting and other services to human rights defenders.
